Lauren Ammirati is an American mixed media artist, influenced by her upbringing in New York and inspired by her adventures living on the west coast for over a decade. One part photographer, one part painter, Lauren “paints with her pictures”, using her original photography as her paint. On average, her pieces contain hundreds of her original photographs. She then builds her art outward, creating real 3-D imagery using woodworking, as featured in her “Lips and Eyes” series and her “Faces” series.
Lauren graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC before moving to California and spending several years at the Academy of Art in San Francisco studying production design for motion picture and television. Living in SF’s North Beach, Lauren did her first art shows alongside Beat luminary, Lawrence Ferlinghetti.
While living in the Bay Area, her art was featured at the Oakland Museum’s “High Art Show”, a show featuring all cannabis-inspired art. Her photography was featured three times at the Through the Lens show, in the shadow of the Golden State Warrior’s practice facility, Lauren’s favorite basketball team. She was also a featured artist with SF Raw Art, showing in one of SF’s historic ballrooms and showed multiple times at the Chocolate and Art show. In addition to her own art, she designed Poster Art for several Bay Area rock and bluegrass bands, worked as a Food Photographer for a local catering business and did pre-production consulting for a feature film and television series.
Lauren’s photography is diverse and regularly includes Urban Photography, Nature Photography and Music Photography. Her art and photography has been seen projected on a building in Times Square in NYC and at the Louvre Museum in Paris, France. She has also won four Special Recognition Awards for “Outstanding Art in Photography” from the Light, Space and Time Online Gallery.
Since moving to Oregon, she has had a piece accepted into the Mayor's Art Show, which was part of Eugene's first Visual Arts Festival, as well, as showing at several local galleries.
Lauren has also created an affordable line of clothing, named LaLa Artwear, featuring various pieces of her art.
